About PMP in Jerusalem PMP is Jerusalem 2010 is an inspiring residency in which the JMC is hosting PMP. Headed by Itzhak and Toby Perlman, and joined by an international faculty, PMP is visiting Jerusalem for an intensive musical course, bringing together the international team with a select group of students and faculty from our partners in the program—the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
42 outstanding students were selected for the residency, half of whom are alumni of PMP from around the world, whereas the other half come from the Israeli music academies (mostly scholarship recipients of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and graduates of the Outstanding Musicians Program of the JMC, who may serve in the IDF Education corps as Outstanding Musicians).
Program participants play in an orchestra under the baton of Maestro Perlman; study chamber music; learn classical Arabic music; receive individual lessons from a world-class faculty; sing in chorus together with all faculty; perform, and enjoy educational sight-seeing trips throughout the country. The Jerusalem International YMCA, a home for culture in the capital, is hosting the musicians and a major part of the musical activity.
Open rehearsals, master classes and concerts will be held throughout the program between May 22 and June 5.
The Gala concert, in collaboration with the Israel Festival, will take place at the Henry Crown Hall on June 3.
