Hen Zimbalista and Oron Schwartz

From the CD booklet:
". . .WITH TIMBRES, WITH JOY, AND WITH THREE-STRINGED INSTRUMENTS" Two young Israeli percussionist are featured here in a dazzling display of talent and virtuosity, juxtaposing solos and ensembles, staple-contemporary-percussion-repertoire and their own compositions, introspection and showmanship. It was only a matter of time, only natural, that from the many layered Israeli music tapestry - classical, ethnic, oriental, western, Jewish, Arabic, levantine - a generation of musicians would emerge, versatile, at-home in every tradition, at ease with any style. Chen Zimbalista and Oron Schwartz's choice of pieces reflects their versatility, the constant beat that thrills their bodies, their tactile contact with a host of instruments, their professional approach - in short, their personality.  Zimbalista exhibits his Forte in two bravura pieces, meticulously written for marimba, then "lets himself go" with other members of the percussive family in his own, quasi-improvised Impulse 1. Oron Schwartz' pensive and at times introverted approach - quite rare among percussionists - highlights a trio of Israeli pieces including his own, for vibraphone, flute and piano, as well as his artistic mastery and predilection for chamber music making.
